What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?
This Privacy Policy covers the treatment of “personal data” or “personal information” (hereafter, “Personal Data”) gathered when you are using or accessing the Services. When we use the term Personal Data we mean any information relating directly or indirectly to an identified or identifiable natural person. This Privacy Policy also covers our treatment of any Personal Data that our third parties, such as our business partners, share with us or that we share with those third parties.

We will retain your Personal Data for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We do not sell your Personal Data for monetary compensation, but we may partner with third-party advertising and analytics partners, which may be considered a “sale” of Personal Data under applicable laws. If you are a U.S. resident and would like to exercise your consumer rights under applicable law, please visit the “Your U.S. State Privacy Rights” section of this Privacy Policy.

For example, if you register for or access the Services using a Third Party Service (such as your social media account login credentials), we may receive Personal Data that you have made available to share through such Third Party Service, which may include, without limitation, your name.
Aggregate Information and Deidentified Information
We collect statistical information about how both unregistered and registered users, collectively, use the Services (“Aggregate Information”), and some of this information is derived from Personal Data. This statistical information cannot directly identify you. We may also use or create deidentified data, which is data that cannot be reasonably used to infer information about you or otherwise be linked to you. We maintain and use any deidentified data in deidentified form and will not attempt to reidentify that information.
Sources of Personal Data
We collect your Personal Data from the categories of sources outlined below:
- Directly from you: We collect Personal Data directly from you when you provide it to us, such as when you create an account, upload user content, or contact us.
- Automatically or indirectly from you: We automatically receive and record information from your web browser or device when you interact with the Services, including when you search for, select, view or receive a GIF, such as your IP address, device ID, user query information and cookie information. This information is used to enable us to deliver GIFs to you, for fighting spam/malware, to improve the service and to facilitate collection of data concerning your interaction with the Services (e.g., what links you have clicked on). Generally, the Services automatically collect usage information, such as the number and frequency of visitors to the Site and the Services. We may use this data in aggregate form, for example, as a statistical measure or in other anonymous forms, but not in a manner that would identify you personally. This type of aggregate data enables us and third parties authorized by us to figure out how often individuals use parts of the Services so that we can analyze and improve them.
- Third Party Services: As mentioned above, you may be able to register for or access the Services using a Third Party Service or platform, such as your social media account (e.g. Facebook, X, etc.). Occasionally, you can also use your Account on our Services to interact with your accounts on these other Third Party Services. For example, you may be able to access posting and sharing tools on the Services that allow you to post information to your social networks outside of the Services (“Share”). By using these tools or Third Party Services, you acknowledge that some Personal Data (such as your IP address, language preferences, timestamp and identifiers related to your request) may be transmitted to us, and that such information and content is covered by this Privacy Policy.
- Service Providers, other third parties, or publicly available sources: We may receive Personal Data about you from various third parties, such as your employer, our business partners, marketing partners, and service providers that assist us with providing our Services.
How Do We Use Your Personal Data?
We may use your Personal Data in the following circumstances:
- To communicate with you about the Services we provide or respond to your inquiries.
- To verify your age or identity.
- Where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.
- For internal business purposes, such as to administer and maintain your Account, moderate our content, customize your content, and provide our Services (including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, system maintenance, support, reporting and hosting of data).
- To use data analytics to improve our Site, Services, marketing, customer relationships and experiences.
- For marketing or advertising purposes.
- To make suggestions and recommendations to you about Services that may be of interest to you.
- To create deidentified or aggregate data.
- To facilitate your participation in RedGIFs hosted events.
- To monitor and protect our Site, Services, and employees, as well as to stop any activities that may be fraudulent or illegal, for debugging purposes, and to protect the security of the Services and the data we have collected.
- As necessary in the context of a possible sale, merger, acquisition, business reorganization or group restructuring exercise.
Sale or Sharing of Personal Data
We work with third-party advertising and analytics partners and social media sites, and these partnerships may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under certain U.S. state privacy laws, even though no money changes hands. For example, when you visit or interact with our Services or a webpage where third-party advertising or analytics cookies are present, any exchange of Personal Data may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of your Personal Data. Information that we may “sell” or “share” includes your identifiers and your internet and other technical information. We do not knowingly “sell” or “share” the Personal Data of children (defined as individuals under the age of 16).
Collection and Use of Personal Data from Children
The Services are not intended for use by children (defined as individuals under the age of 16) and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If we discover or are notified by a parent or guardian that we have received information from a child, we will promptly delete it.
How is My Personal Data Disclosed?
We may disclose your Personal Data to the following parties:
- Our Personnel: Personal Data about visitors to or users of the Services may be accessible to members of our technical support, marketing, and development teams, who have a need to access or use such information in order to perform their duties and responsibilities. Other departments within our company may have access to certain information about you on a need to know basis, such as the legal department, the finance department, and internal auditing.
- Service Providers: We engage service providers and vendors to perform specific business functions on our behalf, and they may receive Personal Data about you from us or collect it directly from you, in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy, such as: (a) payment service providers; (b) computer systems providers, cloud service providers, database providers, and technology service providers in general; (c) advertising and marketing agencies or providers; (d) data analytics providers; and (e) professional advisors such as external legal and accountancy advisors.
- Third Party Services, Business Partners, or Related Services: We may share Aggregate Information with our business partners, service providers and other persons with whom we conduct business. We share this type of statistical data so that our partners can understand how and how often people use our Services and their services or websites, which facilitates improving both their services and how our Services interface with them. In addition, these third parties may share with us Personal Data, aggregated or deidentified data about you that they have independently developed or acquired. Furthermore, if a tool, such as the Share tool, is operated by a Third Party Service, the Third Party Service that operates the tool may collect information about your browser or online activity, which would be subject to the Third Party Service’s privacy policy and your account settings selected through that Third Party Service. When you use these tools, some of your information from the Services may be shared with the Third Party Service and others, including the selected GIF. Therefore, we encourage you to read the privacy policies and applicable terms of service of any Third Party Services that you use in connection with the Services.
- Social Media Platforms: If you interact with us on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook or X) the platform may be able to collect Personal Data about you and your interactions with us. If you interact with social media objects on the Services (for example, by clicking on a “Like” button from a social media platform), both the platform and your connections on the platform may be able to view that activity. To control this sharing of information, please review the privacy policy of the relevant social media platform.
- The Public: The Services are designed to help you interact with content and share information with others. As a result, some of the Personal Data generated through the Services is shared publicly or with Third Party Services. What information is shared publicly depends on your privacy settings.
- Information Disclosed Pursuant to a Change in Control or Sale: In some cases, we may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, user Personal Data is typically one of the transferred business assets. Moreover, if we, or substantially all of our assets, were acquired, or if we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, user Personal Data would be one of the assets that may be transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of our company or our assets may continue to use your Personal Data as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
- Information Disclosed for Our Protection and the Protection of Others: We also reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as we reasonably believe is necessary to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; (ii) enforce this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof; (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; (iv) respond to user support requests; or (v) protect our rights, property, safety, or our users and the public. This includes exchanging Personal Data with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and spam/malware prevention.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our Services may use cookies, Software Development Kits (“SDKs”), web beacons, pixels, or other online tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) when you visit or interact with our Services and our other online properties. We may use cookies to enable our servers to recognize your web browser and tell us how and when you visit the Site and otherwise use the Services.
How long these cookies stay on your device depends on what they need to do. For example, some cookies only work while you are visiting our Services and get deleted when you are done (session cookies). Others may stay on your device unless you choose to delete them (persistent cookies). Cookies may be placed by us (first party cookies) or by other businesses (third party cookies) when you visit our Services or other online properties.
We may match Personal Data collected by cookies with other Personal Data to identify you, and we may use cookies to determine if your web browser has accessed aspects of the Services so we may associate that information with your Account if you have one.
The cookies used by us can be classified using the International Chamber of Commerce guide for cookie categories: Strictly Necessary, Performance, Functional, and Targeting. We may use the following cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies: These are cookies that are required for the operation of our Services. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our Services or areas requiring your acknowledgment or consent to proceed.
- Performance/Analytics cookies: These cookies from third-party service providers allow us to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our Services when they are using it. This helps us improve the way our Services work, for example, by ensuring that users find desired content.
- Functional cookies: These are used to recognize you when you return to our Services. This enables us to personalize our content for you or remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
- Targeting/Advertising cookies: These cookies record your visit to our Services, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We may use this information to make our Services more relevant to your interests or share this information with third parties for this purpose.
Your Cookie Choices
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”) to help us understand how users interact with the Services and to enhance your experience when you use the Services. For more information on Google’s privacy practices, please go to https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and to opt out of data recording and analysis by Google Analytics on the Services, please visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Social Media Pixels: We may also use social media pixels to measure your use of our Services, tailor our Services to your interests, and improve our Services. Please note that Facebook can connect Personal Data collected via the Meta Pixel that may be deployed on the Services with your Facebook account and use it for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with Meta’s Privacy Policy, which can be found at Facebook.com/about/privacy/.
- Browser Signals: Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites, web applications, and services that you do not wish such operators to track your online activities over time and across different websites. Our Services do not support “Do Not Track” browser settings and we do not currently participate in any “Do Not Track” frameworks that would allow us to respond to signals or other mechanisms from you regarding the collection of your Personal Data.
- Browser Settings: Most browsers have an option for turning off the cookie feature, which will prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, as well as (depending on the sophistication of your browser software) allowing you to decide on acceptance of each new cookie in a variety of ways. Check your browser’s HELP menu to learn the correct way to change or update your cookies. Please see your mobile phone’s manual or other instructions for information on how to do this on your phone’s browser.

Creator Blogs and Other Public Posting Areas
Depending upon your privacy settings, user profile, and channel information that you choose to provide, your username, contact name, GIFs you upload, information about yourself, your avatar/profile picture, a description of your channel, and links to your website or social media profiles may be displayed to other users to facilitate user interaction within the Services. We will not directly reveal user email addresses to other users.
Some features of the Services allow you to provide user content to the Services, and related Personal Data if you so choose. User content includes, but is not limited to, GIFs, written comments, links, and pictures. All content submitted by you to the Services and related data (e.g., technical specifications of a GIF) may be retained according to our data retention policy or disclosed to third parties as outlined in this Privacy Policy.
Some of your activity on and through the Services is public by default. This may include, but is not limited to, content you have posted publicly on the Site or otherwise through the Services. For registered users, all content you post publicly (or privately) will be associated with your Account. Unregistered users will not have this association, but Personal Data concerning their use of the Services (such as what pages they have visited) may be tracked through the use of cookies and stored by us.
Please remember that if you choose to provide Personal Data using certain public features of the Services, then that information is governed by the privacy settings of those particular features and may be publicly available. Individuals accessing such information may use or disclose it to other individuals or entities without our control and without your knowledge, and search engines may index that information. We therefore urge you to think carefully about including any specific information you may deem private that you submit through the Services.
Disclaimer Regarding Video Content
The Services may contain video content, audiovisual content, or content of a like nature (collectively, “Video Content”). In connection with our provision of Video Content, the Services may utilize the types of cookies discussed above in the section “Cookies and Similar Technologies”, which may result in information about your activity on the Services being transmitted from your browser to us and third parties, which, in turn, may result in the display of targeted advertisements on third-party websites and platforms, including advertisements for RedGIFs’ content. Whether the use of cookies on the Services results in your browser’s transmission of information to third parties depends on a number of factors that may be outside of RedGIFs’ knowledge or control, including what third-party websites you use, what information you have provided to such third parties, and whether (and the extent to which) you have limited the use of cookies by the operators of those third-party websites, platforms, and services. For more information about these cookies, please see the section “Cookies and Similar Technologies” above.
Our Use of AI Chat Features and Session Replay Technology
Our Services incorporate a third party chat feature for support purposes. This chat feature may be powered by generative artificial intelligence (“AI Chat Features”). If you interact with the AI Chat Features, you are not communicating with a human representative of RedGIFs. Instead, you are communicating with artificial intelligence software that generates responses to your inputs based on machine-learning algorithms. These AI Chat Features may collect the content of your communications including any Personal Data you provide to it. Any Personal Data you provide to these chat features will be used, shared, and stored in accordance with our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy. Please discontinue use of the Services if you do not consent to the collection and use of such information by us and third parties.
We may use session replay technology to monitor how you interact with the Services. This technology may collect Personal Data including which links you click on within the Services, Personal Data that you type into our online forms, and information about your device or browser.
Choices Regarding Your Personal Data
You can use many of the Services’ features without registering, thereby limiting the type of Personal Data that we collect. You can always opt not to disclose certain Personal Data to us, but please note that such information may be needed to take advantage of some of our features. Below, we have provided options you may have regarding your Personal Data.
Account Information: If you are a registered user, you can access information associated with your Account by logging into the Services here.
Deleting Your Account: Should you ever decide to delete your Account, you may do so by emailing support@redgifs.com. Please note that we will need to verify that you have the authority to delete the Account. If you terminate your Account, any association between your Account and information we store will no longer be accessible through your Account. However, given the nature of sharing on the Services, any public activity on your Account prior to deletion will remain stored on our servers and may remain accessible to the public, subject to our data retention policy.
Device Information: You may control the Services' access to certain device information collected automatically through your “Settings” app on your device.
Email Unsubscribe: If you do not wish to receive marketing, advertising, or promotional emails from us, please contact us or select the “unsubscribe” link within the email. Please note that transactional or relationship emails, such as those that provide information about your use of the Services or containing commercial transaction information, are not subject to opt-out except where required for compliance with applicable law.
Do Not Track Signals: Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites, web applications, and services that you do not wish such operators to track your online activities over time and across different websites. Our Services do not support “Do Not Track” browser settings and we do not currently participate in any “Do Not Track” frameworks that would allow us to respond to signals or other mechanisms from you regarding the collection of your Personal Data.
Cookie Settings: Please see the section above called, “Cookies and Similar Online Technologies” for information about how to control cookies.
You may also visit our Frequently Asked Questions page here for additional information about how to control your Personal Data.
