How do I upload a video to RedGIFs? Follow
Sharing your videos on RedGIFs is quick, intuitive, and built for creators who want their content to shine. Here’s how it works:
Before you start: Verified vs. Non-Verified upload access
If you’re a Verified Creator
Uploads are accessed through the Studio button.
If you’re Not Verified
The Upload button is available directly in the sidebar/taskbar.
Supported formats
We support modern video formats, including:
.mp4.mov- Other standard video file types
Note: We no longer support .gif or .webm uploads. Please convert those files to .mp4 before uploading.
Step-by-step guide
Here's a quick video guide on how you can upload videos on RedGIFs:

1. Click the Upload button
- On desktop: You'll find it in the left sidebar
- On mobile: It's located at the bottom of the screen
2. Choose a video or upload from a link
- Select a video file from your device
- Or paste a link to auto-generate content from an external source
3. Trim your clip (optional)
Use the crop slider to adjust the start and end of your video. This is great for focusing the viewer’s attention.
4. Toggle sound (optional)
Sound is enabled by default, but you can turn it off if you prefer a silent post.
5. Set your audience
Choose the main audience for your content. (e.g., straight, gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual, animated).
6. Add tags
Tags help your content get discovered. Add at least three to unlock the Next button.
7. Select Niches
Click the Niches you'd like to add your content to. Make sure you've joined the Niche before you can add your content to it.
8. Add a description (optional)
If you’re a Verified Creator, you can include a description to provide context, express your tone, or help with discoverability.
9. Make it private (optional)
Set your video to Private if you want it to be viewable by link only.
10. Click Publish
Once everything looks good, hit Publish and your video will go live for viewers to enjoy.
