Why is my RedGIFs link on Reddit showing only as a link (not an embed)?

Sometimes when you share a RedGIFs link on Reddit, it shows up as a plain link instead of an embedded image or autoplaying video player.

This usually happens because of Reddit delays or caching—Reddit doesn’t always load the embed right away.

Step 1: Wait a bit

First, don’t delete your post right away.

• Give Reddit some time to refresh and process the link.

• In many cases, the embed will fix itself automatically after a short delay.

Step 2: If it never embeds

If it’s been a while and your post still only shows as a link, it probably means something went wrong with the original upload.

At that point:

1. Re-upload your file to RedGIFs.

2. Copy the new RedGIFs link.

3. Create a new Reddit post using this new link.

Simply reposting the same old link usually won’t help, because Reddit caches it. Once it has stored the “broken” version, it tends to keep showing it that way.
