Why does RedGIFs embed quality look different on Reddit? Follow

If your RedGIFs embed looks blurry on Reddit, here’s what’s happening:

Reddit loads SD first

When your content is embedded on Reddit (especially on desktop), Reddit initially pulls an SD version of the file. After a short time, it fetches the HD version.
Once HD finishes processing, playback switches to HD automatically.

HD maxes out at 1080p

Even in HD, playback is capped at 1080p and depends on the quality of your original upload.
If the source file isn’t high resolution, the embed won’t look sharper.
