Appeals Policy Follow
Last updated: 15th September 2025
Introduction
This appeals policy forms part of your agreement with RedGIFs.com. It explains how you can challenge moderation decisions made by us, including the removal, restriction, or retention of content and the suspension or restriction of accounts.
Unless otherwise defined here, terms used in this Policy have the same meaning as in our Terms of Service.
What Decisions Can Be Appealed
For the purposes of this Policy, a “Decision” means any action taken by RedGIFs to:
- remove, restrict, label, or disable access to content;
- decline to remove or restrict content following a complaint;
- suspend, deactivate, or restrict an account; or
- impose warnings, strikes, or other restrictions on account features (such as posting, commenting, or uploading).
This Policy also applies to significant decisions made solely through automated means, including algorithmic moderation, where those decisions have a legal or similarly significant effect on a user in the EU/EEA or UK.
This Policy does not apply to temporary or irreversible technical actions (for example, automated processes needed to maintain site security or stability).
Who May File an Appeal
Appeals may be filed by:
- Registered users whose content or account is affected by a Decision;
- Individuals depicted in content, or authorized representatives, where their rights are directly impacted; or
- Any person located in the EU/EEA or UK who has submitted a complaint regarding allegedly illegal or policy-violating content and disagrees with our response.
How to File an Appeal
To appeal a Decision, you must submit a completed appeals form via:
- the in-platform appeal or reporting tool, or
- by email to support@redgifs.com with the subject line “Appeal.”
Your appeal must include:
- the username or URL of the account;
- the URL or identifier of the affected content (if applicable);
- a detailed explanation of why you believe the Decision was incorrect, including why the content complies with our Terms of Service and policies; and
- any supporting information or documents.
Appeals should be filed within six months of the relevant Decision. Appeals filed after this period may not be reviewed.
Filing an appeal is free of charge.
Review of Appeals
Once an appeal is submitted, RedGIFs will:
- review the relevant Decision and associated materials;
- consider the information and supporting documents you have provided;
- request additional information if necessary; and
- issue a determination to grant, grant in part, or deny your appeal.
Appeals will be reviewed by our Appeals Team in a diligent, timely, and non-discriminatory manner. We will notify you of the outcome without undue delay, and in any event within 30 days of receipt of your appeal, unless exceptional circumstances require more time.
Outcomes
- Appeal Granted: We will reverse the relevant Decision(s) and restore content or account functionality as appropriate.
- Appeal Granted in Part: Some, but not all, Decisions will be reversed.
- Appeal Denied: The original Decision remains in place.
Additional Rights for EU/EEA Users (Digital Services Act)
If you are located in the European Union/EEA, you have additional rights under the Digital Services Act (DSA):
- You may submit complaints through this internal appeals system free of charge.
- If you disagree with our appeal outcome, you may refer the matter to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body in your Member State, as recognized by the European Commission.
- You may also seek judicial redress in a court with jurisdiction.
- RedGIFs will cooperate in good faith with such certified bodies. While their decisions are not binding on users or RedGIFs, we will abide by them where legally required under the DSA.
Additional Rights for UK Users (Online Safety Act)
If you are located in the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the Online Safety Act 2023:
- You may appeal moderation decisions under this Policy.
- You may raise concerns with Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, in accordance with the procedures it establishes under the Online Safety Act 2023.
- You may also seek judicial redress in the courts.
No Liability
RedGIFs is not liable for any interruption of access to your account or content, including any loss of visibility, audience, or opportunities, even where an appeal is granted.
